Plays

It’s important to count plays correctly so we can see how well audio content is doing on the Aliada Create platform. This guide will explain how we track plays accurately.

How We Count Plays

  1. Listener De-duplication
  • For Registered Users: We keep track of plays using a special session ID.
  • For Non-registered Users: We use their IP address to keep track of plays.
  1. Recording Plays
  • Each play is counted only once for every time someone listens.
  • A play is counted for the entire length of the audio track.
  1. Excluding Asset Owners
  • We do not count plays from the person who created or uploaded the audio.
  1. Excluding Comparer Plays
  • We do not count plays within the Comparer feature.

More About How We Count Plays

Listener De-duplication

To make sure we don’t count plays too many times, we use two methods:

  • For Registered Users: When someone is logged in, we track their plays with a unique ID for their session. This means if they listen more than once in one session, it only counts as one play.

  • For Non-registered Users: If someone isn’t logged in, we track their plays using their IP address. This helps us know how many different people are listening even if they don’t have an account.

Recording Plays

We want to show how many real listeners we have:

  • Each play is only counted once for every unique listener.
  • It doesn’t matter if the listener plays the whole track or just part of it; we still count it as one play. This way, we understand how people are engaging with the audio.

Excluding Asset Owners

To keep our play counts honest:

  • We do not count plays from the person who owns the audio (the creator or uploader).
  • This stops anyone from unfairly boosting their play counts and makes sure the numbers show real audience engagement.
  • We do not count plays within the Comparer feature.
